Images of sunsets over Poole Harbour were captured daily throughout winter 2007/8 using a number of publicly accessible web-cams and re-presented as an architectural lighting installation in a vacant property on Poole quay (now demolished). Based on empirical research of wave patterns, inspired by the work of local geographer Vaughan Cornish (I862-1948), the lighting sequence used banks of LED’s programmed in a sequence that reflected the movement of the sea and three months of sunsets.
Rediscovered in 2014 this film shows ‘The Blueness of Distance’ filmed on a not so smartphone from inside a car on a rainy day. Watch the film (2mins)
